A red wedding dress: red, just like the heart

Red dress Elisabetta Polignano

An anti-ordinary wedding: Maria Giovanna tells us about it with a contagious joy, and with her amazing red wedding dress: “Not bordeaux, not cherry red, just red, simple as that!” – she says.

She said her “I do” to her Francesco last December 6th in Nule (Sardinia), her home town. They hosted a civil, open-air ceremony in front of the enchanting landscape offered by Colle San Paolo, surrounded by roses and white and red Christmas flowers, lanterns and candles. They celebrated in Bono afterwards, in the area of Sassari, at the restaurant “The three roses”, with all their beloved ones.“About one year ago we made our wedding date official and the preparations began right afterwards” – tells us Maria Giovanna – “My brain was always hyperactive, I kept getting new ideas and even my sister and my sister-in-law helped me a lot: they were my official wedding planners!”.

The bride’s passion for tea became the main theme of the wedding: the invitations were crafted in red and teabag shaped, and they featured the taglines “Wedding of Sardinia” and “Blend infusion, 15 years” (the same duration of the couple’s engagement). The bonbonnieres and even many other tiny details were tea-inspired (for examples, different tea infusers with different lovely shapes) and the M&M’s, which substituted the traditional confetti, were grey and red too: “Red was the main color, in case you didn’t realize it!” – she jokes, – “with some touches of silver and grey here and there”. The bouquet was outstanding too: it had red berries, orchids, and different shiny pins. The choice to wear vintage glasses on her wedding was quite anti-ordinary too: “I wore glasses since age 6” – explains Maria Giovanna – “so I feel myself only when I’m wearing them”.

Talking about the dress, the bride didn’t have any doubts: “On Elisabetta Polignano’s website, I found the Signature collection and after a couple of pictures, I saw my dress: it looked like a fine-art sculpture to me, it was so characteristic, while remaining still so simple”. The dress is enriched by a big ribbon on the back and Swarovski crystals on the waist and on the shoulders. “I chose it immediately, even though I tried also other dresses in her atelier, because, I mean: there’s no second chance, right? So many tiny details made my dress so ‘mine’, though. They made it so unique and perfect. It was love at first sight. And everybody just loved it”.
