Brides in bloom: all you needed to know about your wedding flowers.

“You mustn’t ever listen to flowers. Watching them and smell them is enough”. The lovable author of The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, writes his homage to flowers, an unescapable element in every wedding. But how can we choose the most suitable ones? We interviewed a real expert in wedding flowers. “First of all, it’s important to be coherent with the season, with the location and with the theme of the event, whether it is classic and elegant or casual and informal. We start from the dress choice and then we try to keep everything coordinated with the atmosphere, we want every detail to be connected” explains Claudio Brovelli, who defines himself as a flower artist. “We start from little inspirations: for instance, the main color of the bridal gown or else just some simple detail. Then we begin to imagine our scenography. It’s enough to begin all the work two months in advance, but if you don’t want to rush, six months would be the ideal amount of time for an adequate preparation of the atmosphere”. Claudio also highlights: “When we work at the preparations, balancing the creative choices is crucial. For example, a wedding dress with details in lace, or with tiny polka dot patterns, needs a lighthearted presentation and must work on transparencies. This is why wedding veils are usually more preferred, together with orchids. They are examples of something light and not too serious, yet curated in every detail”.

The trends of this year suggest to eliminate the greens and to avoid redundant flower compositions, or worse, any kind of tropical leaves. Crystals and transparencies work fine, even better if there’s candlelight in the surrounding atmosphere. “Girls, just stop the copy and paste from the internet”, concludes Claudio, “just try to make everything as personal and unique as you can”.
